What is PdfCraft?
The short answer
PdfCraft focuses on PDF documents rather than drawing new artwork. Its documented workflows include reading, searching, rearranging pages, merging and splitting files, and document protection.
The application remains in early development. Official documentation also records limits in editing, OCR, printing and format conversion. “PDF tool” does not mean that every Office file or complex document can be converted with its layout intact.

How is PdfCraft different from the other ArtCraft apps?
PdfCraft works on document files. DesignCraft is used to compose page layouts, PhotoCraft edits images and VectorCraft draws vector artwork. A PDF may contain images or vectors, but that does not make the four applications interchangeable.
Older project links may use PrintCraft and redirect to the current PdfCraft project. Use the official page and storytold/pdfcraft repository linked here; an older name is not an additional app in the family.
Should you use it?
Official release assets include desktop packages and a self-hostable WebAssembly build. A web download needs setup; it is not a verified official hosted editor. Open-source code is inspectable, but that does not guarantee a download’s safety or a workflow’s compatibility.
Try a small project first
Test copies of a simple document and one representative complex PDF. Check page order, fonts, forms and the exported result in the reader used by your recipients.
For any conversion, verify that the current documentation explicitly supports both the source and target formats. We have not independently tested layout preservation, protection behavior or a professional print workflow.
How to get started

- 2. Choose the build for your operating system, or a web package if you plan to self-host it.
- 3. Test a copy of a representative project, including opening the exported result in its destination software.
Frequently asked questions
Can PdfCraft convert every document format?
No such guarantee is established. Its documented strengths include PDF reading and page operations; check current limits before relying on Office conversion, OCR or layout-preserving export.
Is PdfCraft part of ArtCraft?
Yes. PdfCraft is a standalone Crafting App made by the ArtCraft team. The ArtCraft AI studio is a separate product.
Is PdfCraft free and open source?
Yes. The official project offers the app for free and describes its code license as MIT or Apache-2.0. Check separate notices for bundled assets and brand materials.
