Our review basis
We reviewed the v0.9.0 project documentation, its roadmap and linked public discussion on October 11, 2026. We have not installed VectorCraft or compared its output against Illustrator. Separate three kinds of evidence: what the project says it supports, what an individual user reports, and what your own file test demonstrates.
What the app is intended to do
The official material describes a vector drawing workspace with editable paths, artwork organization and file exchange. That makes it relevant when an automatic trace is only the beginning of a design. Look at the documented operations you need rather than counting every menu item as an equally complete feature.
An early user preference, in context
In the Reddit thread “I’m sorry old friend…”, a comment by DjTechnoWiz visible on October 11, 2026 expresses a preference for VectorCraft over Inkscape. It does not provide a versioned sample or a repeatable comparison. This is one person’s preference, not a survey, an official endorsement or evidence that every vector workflow is better.
Where a trial should be stricter
The v0.9.0 project identifies itself as alpha and documents remaining gaps. A useful trial checks opening a representative file, changing a path, working with the fonts you need, exporting and reopening in the destination software. Save a copy of the original and record which part succeeded or failed. A pleasing preview does not establish editable output or print readiness.
Try a small task before a whole workflow
Use a logo or icon whose expected appearance you know. For tracing alone, our converter produces SVG paths locally without installing an editor. Inspect the silhouette, small gaps and colors, then continue in a full vector application if manual cleanup is needed. That result gives you an actual file to evaluate, without turning an early review into a universal recommendation.
